S] Hi guys how are you doing today?

Peter] “We’re all fine, thanks!

S] What inspires your music and tracks – in terms of ideas and motivation?

Peter] “Everything, to be honest. I write all the lyrics in Despite, and I tend to always write about my own thoughts and feelings, plus everything that goes around in the world. The world is an evil place, so you really don’t have to look far to start seeing faults and wrongs. I think it’s awesome using the music medium to lift important subjects to the surface. Now, to mention a few bands that inspire me to write music I’d have to go with Heart of a Coward, Periphery, Tesseract, Fear Factory and Meshuggah.”

S] What about outside of music – in art, or films – are there any inspirations you draw from?

Peter] “Definitely! As I mentioned, I draw influences from everywhere. Sure, when we listen to other bands’ music we get inspired to write music, but when it comes to lyrics nothing’s more inspiring and shocking than the world around us. There’s too much stuff going on in the world, so I don’t really see any reason to turn to fiction for inspiration.”

S] Do you have any plans to tour the UK soon?

Peter] “That’s a definite YES! The UK market seems to be one of the biggest markets for Despite. We’re currently looking the right booking agency to take us aboard and start booking dates in the UK. So if any booking agency representative is reading this, get in touch with us asap!”

S] What are your main plans for the rest of 2015?

Peter] “At the moment we’re keeping ourselves busy with writing new material for an upcoming EP that will be released this fall. In a couple of weeks we’ll once again enter Crehate Studios to record a brand new (yet untitled) single, which we will also make a music video for. The plan is to release the video later this summer. Given the demand for new Despite music from fans all over the world we can’t wait to release another beast for people to sink their teeth into.”

S] Is there a song that you’re working on right now that you feel like perfectly defines where your band is at right now – what is that song, and why?

Peter] “We’re hard at work writing new material. As we don’t have any final titles for the songs yet I’ll have to keep away from mentioning any specific tune. But let’s just say, people are in for one hell of a ride once this new stuff hits the airwaves!”
