In our latest Band Spotlight, we talk to Chicago-based industrial-noise duo, HIDE.
S] Hey! How are you doing today?
Hi. Pretty good. We are in Houston tonight, playing a show with Body of Light and Drab Majesty.
S] How much does the visual aspect of HIDE mean to you?
It’s as important as the music. We approach this project as more of an overall creative collaboration than a band. The visual art and live performance are components as much as the audio elements. For example, we’ve made films and presented art installations separate from performances.
S] What would you say is your biggest challenge at the moment?
Staying functional/productive when the world is such total shit.
S] How do you define success?
We don’t work like that. Us making the art we want is the only sort of goal we have.
S] What motivates you outside of music, think specific people, places and movies for example?
Transgressive art. FlucT from Brooklyn are a good example. We both love being in nature, away from people.
S] How are you looking forward to your UK shows?
Very much. We played a few shows doing main support for The Soft Moon in UK last year and got a really great response, in London especially, so we are excited to come back and play our own shows.
