Black Moth are one of those bands that blow your face off when they perform, not literally of course, but still the noise hits pretty hard.
First though, we take in a good strong dose of Antlered Man. One of the heaviest, and coolest bands around in the UK at the moment. Playing with blistering intensity from the word go. This band make weird and wonderful music that’ll quite probably delight, enthral (and confuse?) you in equal measure. Also, this band have epic beards. Like seriously, but I guess that’s not the point of today’s review, is it? From the powerful arena-sized notes of the schizophrenic-but-still-sorta-perfect ‘Platoono Of Uno’ to the raucous and delightful riffs and offbeats of ‘The Devil Is In Them’, the band keep everyone excited and reeeeally entertained, which is just well, great. Good lads. We’re mega impressed, and you may have actually stolen the show on this night.
And now on to Black Moth. A band on great form (recently the fivesome has been on tour with the mighty Uncle Acid And The Deadbeats) playing to their home crowd. It’s special stuff, and the vibes here are just fantastic throughout. Tracks like ‘Chicken Sh**’, ‘Blackbirds Fall’ and ‘Spit Out Your Teeth’ are sang with great confidence and enjoyment by the ever excitable Harriet Bevan. It’s great to see the whole band are pleased to be back at the Brudenell, a venue that clearly holds a tonne of significance for local bands, as well as established outfits from round the country. It’s also very cool that the mothic horror titans tip their collective cap to hard-working promoters Vintage Kickball. Indeed, this lot have worked hard to bring a decent crowd in tonight, and it’s paid off. The venue is full, and spirits are high. Congrats to all involved.
