Positioned as the year’s breakthrough alternative force, YONAKA, comprised of Theresa Jarvis [vocals], Alex Crosby [bass], and George Werbrouck-Edwards [guitar], uncover their electrifying new EP, Welcome To My House, via LAVA/Republic Records today. The band welcomes fans to their world by sharing videos for each track off the EP. Listen to the EP HERE, watch the video playlist HERE.
About Welcome To My House, Theresa shared, “Each song represents a memory or emotion inside of me. The experiences I have gone through have all spent time inside my house and consumed me. With the EP being called Welcome To My House, visually I want listeners to be able to open up a door, come into my world and see what each song meant to me at that specific time in my life.”
This door opens wide on the new single By The Time You’re Reading This. Bright guitar echoes through upbeat drums as Theresa’s vocals instantly captivate. This frenetic momentum dissolves into an acoustic melody as she croons, “By the time that you’re reading this, I’ll be gone.” In the accompanying visual, the trio deliver a kinetic performance against a giant chalkboard with handwriting scrawled across it.
Speaking on By The Time You’re Reading This, Theresa elaborated, “This song is about living in the moment. When we aren’t consumed by our past or worrying about our future that is when we are truly living. I feel like so many moments have been missed from not being fully present and you only realize how much this thing or persona was to you when it’s gone. I think it’s about taking the time to enjoy what’s infant of you and stop becoming the story of your past.”
Up next, the band will celebrate the release with numerous live dates this summer, including Reading & Leeds Festival and more. See full tour dates below.
