The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster have premiered the accompanying video online, in a clip directed by Roman Rappak, with footage from Guy McKnight‘s family videos, including his parent’s holiday movies from the likes of San Francisco and Tokyo spliced in. Rappak shot the video for previous single, ‘Loves Turns To Hate‘, though is better known for his remix work under the Breton Labs banner, having remixed the likes of Temper Trap, Local Natives and Maps & Atlases.
“To me it really reminds me of the whole Beat Generation mentality,” frontman Guy McKnight explains, “and how that filtered down through folk, someone like Bob Dylan, which then transformed into rock music and how that whole beat generation philosophy is basically a strain of proto-punk. ‘So Long, Goodnight’ reminds me of a road movie. It’s definitely an anti-hero ballad.”
A remix of the song, by White Lies, is also available to download for free now from: http://www.musicglue.com/theeightiesmatchboxblinedisaster.
