Europe’s prime artist-focused independent label, Cooking Vinyl have launched a heavier rock imprint DoubleCross Records. Cooking Vinyl are a powerhouse that have artists such as The Prodigy, Marilyn Manson, Underworld and The Charlatans signed to them.

Set up by Repertoire and Product Manager Phil Hopwood, the new label will be home to both new and established talent. The label will not be taking on any of Cooking Vinyl’s rock acts and so will forge its own identity.

DoubleCross’ debut signing is Macclesfield three piece The Virginmarys. Their first single is ‘Dead Man’s Shoes’ released in October ahead of their debut album ‘King of Conflict’.

It was recorded live at Chapel Studios, produced by Toby Jepson and mixed by Chris Sheldon (Radiohead, Foo Fighters, Biffy Clyro). Before touring in October, The Virginmarys are playing a sold out show supporting Josh Homme’s Eagles of Death Metal at the Islington O2 Academy on the 21st August. They have already spent the last two years in support of the likes of Slash, Ash, We Are Scientists, Skunk Anansie and playing festivals such as Download and Sonisphere.
