We Are Augustines are among many artists contributing a cover of a Bob Dylan track for a compilation album in aid of Amnesty International USA.
The Brooklyn trio offer their version of ‘Mama You’ve Been On My Mind’ to the ‘Chimes Of Freedom: The Songs Of Bob Dylan’ set, which will also feature tributes from Queens Of The Stone Age, Pete Townshend, Patti Smith and Ke$ha.
The band’s singer, Billy McCarthy, says “We are honoured to support [the album]… This is a huge deal to the band. Please join us in supporting Amnesty International and their tireless efforts for human rights around the world.”
‘Chimes Of Freedom: The Songs Of Bob Dylan’ is released in North America on January 24, with a worldwide release on January 30. More information on the project is available on the Amnesty International USA website.
Meanwhile, We Are Augustines visit the UK later this month to perform a free gig at The Wheelbarrow in Camden on December 13, and they are also taking part in XFM’s Winter Wonderland on the following evening.
