Spanish Love Songs tease upcoming album No Joy with a video for new single ‘Haunted.’
Indie-punk quartet Spanish Love Songs reveal their follow up to 2020’s critically acclaimed Brave Faces Everyone. No Joy will drop on August 25th, 2023 via Pure Noise Records. These new details come conjoined to new single and accompanying video, ‘Haunted.’ The track sees some of the bands biggest hooks yet – a feat considering the existence of earworms such as ‘Losers’ in their back catalogue – washed in nostalgia featuring percussive acoustic guitar work. The music video – directed by Hannah Hall – is a perspective on a bar-band scene where the primary motivation is the pursuit of a good time.
Vocalist and guitarist Dylan Slocum explains that “Haunted is a reintroduction of sorts for us,” continuing “It lays out exactly the band we are at the moment, and after 9 months of writing and recording we knew it had to be the first to come out. We were ecstatic to bring it to life with Hannah.”

A cathartic moment in the midst of panic and pandemic, Brave Faces Everyone was a undeniable release and point of community within the world of indie-punk. No Joy seeks to exhale in relief after the tension and worry pooled up on Brave Faces. With shimmering chorus guitar, synth work and elements of new wave, this follow up looks to find peace in the quiet following the previous album’s anxious scream.
Reflecting on the tone and messaging of No Joy, Slocum says “it’s an album about finding happiness in what you have and your current moment. It might be your best moment, or it might not, but you have to find joy in it.”
The band will be making appearances in the UK next week for a sold-out London show on May 26th, and then appearing at Slam Dunk Festival on May 27th and May 28th in Hatfield and Leeds, respectively. Additionally, an autumn UK/EU run alongside Hot Mulligan was recently announced.
