Overpass are staking their claim with new single ‘Right Time’.
Formed from corners of the UK’s industrial second city, the midlands four piece came together at a young age with an undying desire to create.
Some 3 years later, they have surpassed every milestone and expectation and are putting the region back on the map. Riding in the wake of the likes of Editors, Peace, and countless others, Overpass combine influences past and present to create an entirely fresh indie sound. Their precocious clarity on the world captures the essence of their generation, trapped in helplessness and the same Rite of passage as generations before them.
After a mammoth 2022 that saw them dominate festival stages, as well as a recent tour supporting Inhaler – 2023 is truly theirs for the taking. This is further evident in new single ‘Right Time’, out today via Is Right Records (Vistas, Connie Campsie).
A rock juggernaut, ‘Right Time’ sets the tone for Overpass’ ambition; a band unafraid to embrace stadium-sized instrumentation and vocals underpinned with raw emotion, all tied together with one of the year’s biggest choruses.
Speaking about ‘Right Time’, Overpass said: “Right time touches on the age old notion of being at the right place but not at the right time. The inevitable disappointment and regret cause conflicting emotions, as often situations do when they’re out of our control. The lyrics contradict one another to show how both sides of this relationship are confused about where to go and what they want from each other.”
This summer will see Overpass play a string of festivals and headline dates. The currently-announced shows are listed below, for now listen to ‘Right Time’ here.
