Outbreak Fest announce Have Heart only EU show as final headliner of 2024

Initially beginning as a celebration of hardcore and punk, Manchester’s Outbreak Fest has built a major platform to the UK’s consistently thriving counterculture, while also providing a rite of passage for major touring acts across the world such as Turnstile, Terror, Death Grips, Gorilla Biscuits and more to lay waste to stages in Britain. Outbreak’s 2024 line up, 14 years after the festival’s first incarnation, is a testament to the festival’s growth and evolution alongside contemporary culture, featuring its most diverse and eclectic line up yet. Returning to the iconic settings of the 7,500 capacity Bowlers Exhibition Centre in Manchester from 28th – 30th June 2024, Outbreak Fest will play host to New York rap icon Action Bronson as Friday’s headliner, UK heroes Basement for a debut headline set on Saturday, and emo legends American Football celebrating 25 years of their iconic self-titled debut by playing it in full at the festival’s Sunday climax. Today however, Outbreak Fest announces one final headline act in the form of Boston hardcore greats Have Heart.

Topping this year’s Saturday bill, Have Heart have left an indelible mark on the landscape of hardcore since their formation in 2002. A straight edge band that became the soundtrack to a generation of fans’ lives, 2008’s Songs To Scream At The Sun album is recognised as one of modern hardcore’s true watershed moments; an album so revered within the scene that it has crossed over into contemporary culture at large. This proved to be their last statement however, with the band dissolving in 2009. A brief return occurred in 2019, but, their appearance at Outbreak Fest 2024 will mark their only European show of the year – a rare opportunity to catch a glimpse of the US hardcore icons in their truest form; on stage and without a barrier.

Also joining Have Heart on the line up is Action Bronson whipping up the masses at Friday’s rap and left-field leaning Friday programming, as well as Saturday’s headliners Basement, who take the step up to top billing after proving themselves to be a firm festival favourite after a truly anthemic performance in 2022. The Bowler’s Exhibition Centre will also play host to legendary midwest emo outfit American Football performing their iconic debut album, 25 years after its release. Elsewhere on the line up, the likes of Soccer Mommy, Show Me The Body, Poison The Well, Angel Du$t, Mannequin Pussy, Ceremony, Touché Amoré, Movements, Incendiary, Mindforce and more comprise a wildly diverse, cross-genre line up that sees the festival expand its programming to reflect the eclectic tastes of its audience.

American Football’s 1999-recalling headline set won’t be the only place at Outbreak 2024 to provide space for nostalgia, with a handpicked selection of artists delving into their back catalogue for performances that celebrate seminal works. Joyce Manor will commemorate the 10 year anniversary of Never Hungover Again, Nothing will perform 2014’s Guilty Of Everything, The Hotelier will shine a spotlight on a decade of Home, Like Noplace Is There, and post-hardcore legends Thursday will perform a set comprised of tracks from two of their most celebrated works, War All The Time and Full Collapse.

As always, Outbreak will also pay tribute to the future of the scene in 2024, with a hugely exciting roster of burgeoning talent from across the world taking to the stage. Baltimore hardcore icons in waiting End It, Leeds’ genre-fluid four-piece Bodyweb, US dream-pop luminaries crushed and Glasgow’s Demonstration Of Power all feature amongst a non-stop programme of present and future stalwarts of alternative music.

Now lauded as one of the UK’s premier access points for progressive music in all forms, Outbreak Fest is a celebration of all things subversive within contemporary music. Complete with a line up that broadly represents the diverse tastes of youth culture, at Outbreak Fest, nothing is off limits; leading to one of the most explosive weekends in the UK’s live calendar. 2024 is set to be even bigger.
