Bizarro-pop provocateur NANCY shares scintillating new cut ‘English Leather’, out today (October 5th), the title-track for his much-anticipated debut album, set for release October 28th via Blame Recordings.

Raised in northeast England, NANCY acted in ways that seemed out-of-the-ordinary – combined with abnormal physical features, “Nancy” was both a punchline & label throughout the songwriter’s formative years.

Kicking off as a DIY form of escapism, NANCY returned this summer with his latest smattering of warped oddball pop. ‘English Leather’ (LP) captures the reclusive artist at one of the most prolific points in his career, expanding the kaleidoscopic world that he spawned in his previous releases, and building on his status as a true songwriting craftsman.

NANCY’s unique blend of warped psychedelia has already drawn plaudits from a legion of key indie press champions (Pitchfork, Stereogum, Brooklyn Vegan, NME, DIY, Dork, The Line Of Best Fit, So Young, Gigwise, Paste, Rough Trade), as well as benefiting from numerous spins on the BBC Radio 1 (Annie Mac, Huw Stephens, Jack Saunders)BBC 6 Music (Iggy Pop, Lauren Laverne, Steve Lamacq), Beats 1, KCRW KEXP airwaves.

Detailing the title-track, NANCY explained: “Eyes down for a full house, the show is about to begin. ‘English Leather’ is the manifesto, it’s the fingerprint, it’s the first act. I w

anted it to sound primal and scary. The Idiot meets The Sweet printed on vinyl left out in the sun to warp”.

With the musical auteur preparing an extensive plot for the autumn to coincide with the release of his debut full-length, NANCY’s momentum is only set to grow in the months to come.

NANCY’s ‘English Leather’ (single) is out now via Republic of Music and available on all digital platforms.
