The track comes directly after their signing to Nice Swan Records.
Bristol newcomers Mould have announced their signing to Nice Swan Records, also home to English Teacher, Sprints and Opus Kink among others. With it, they’ve seen fit to share a brand new, “pulsating” single, ‘Cables.’
The band, sonically inspired by the likes of Fugazi and Weezer, shared insight into the meaning behind the new single. At its core a song about isolation, the trio injected it with a sense of optimism and subtle, dry humour. “‘Cables’ was written after moving from Bristol to London without any plan and wondering what the hell to do” they explained. “It’s kinda about not having any direction & feeling aimless, but also how it was exciting to be directionless and aimless. It’s also about cables.”
This new single follows the release of ‘Birdsong’ in November, produced by Jon McMullen. This previous track has received high praises from across the music scene, including seeing airplay from Radio X’s John Kennedy, and Amy Lamé OF 6 Music. In addition, the group have previously gotten nods of approval from publications like NME, Dork and So Young.
Hot off the heels of their new release and signing, the group are also playing a number of live dates throughout the rest of the year, with three support slots for New York rock band Lip Critic coming up next week.
Mould’s ‘Cables’ is out now via Nice Swan Records and available on all digital platforms. See below for a glimpse at the new single’s artwork and a full list of live dates.
