Mirror Shoes is the first single to be released from Matt Edible & the Obtuse Angels’ new album and it’s a glam rock stomper about the eponymous footwear. Imagine Ty Segall and Warren Ellis channeling T. Rex and Queen.
Matt Edible has been a jewel in the (admittedly fairly republican) crown of Hull’s music scene for many years. From fronting cult avant-pop heroes Edible 5ft Smiths to leading Tom Robinson (6music) favourites The Holy Orders, he has consistently produced memorable and captivating music.
Following Matt Edible & the Obtuse Angels’ debut album, Stargazing, Matt locked himself down (quite literally thanks to Covid) and went to work forging an even more ambitious collection of songs for the follow-up. He began to record by himself at home and then recruited new band members John Andrew (Kingmaker) and Sarah Shiels to make the project glow.
