Headstock will be working with celebrated street artist, Akse P19, to create a mural of Keith Flint on Beechwood Road, Hackney – a short distance away from the site of the old Four Aces Club where The Prodigy played their first ever gig.The purpose of the mural is to raise awareness of mental health text message support service, Shout 85258, and the charity’s logo and text support number will feature prominently on the artwork.
The mural will be created to coincide with World Suicide Prevention day on 10 September 2021- a date that falls just a week before what would have been Keith’s 52nd birthday.
The mural will based on a photograph from the band’s official photographer, Rahul Singh, and The Prodigy themselves are fully supportive of the project, with Liam & Maxim making a £3,000 donation to the Crowdfunder campaign.
This will be the second time Headstock have worked with Akse following on from the unveiling of a mural of Joy Division’s Ian Curtis in Manchester ahead of World Mental Health Day 2020.
“We are honoured to be able to support this campaign, and for the many people that Keith touched with his charismatic performances on stage with the band.”“This pandemic has had a huge impact on the music industry and events sector, this is an important statement in memory of Keith, for people struggling with mental health, that there is support there for you.”“We urge everyone to donate and support this campaign lead by Headstock and Shout to ensure that this message is spread far and wide.”“It’s so important that we look after each other in this amazing community.”
