El Paso prog rockers The Mars Volta are heading to the UK for a run of three dates with one at Manchester’s O2 Apollo on June 17th. The three gigs are the first set of UK dates form the band in over a decade and are not to be missed.
Blending prog rock, punk and Latin styles, The Mars Volta aim to push boundaries with their music. In typical prog rock fashion, the music is complex but catchy. Fusing together these sounds and styles they have created a unique sound that is distinctly The Mars Volta.
2022 saw the band release their first album since 2012’s Nocturniquet. After returning last year with a brand new self-titled album, the band followed that up earlier this year with Que Dios Te Maldiga Mi Corazon. Que Dios Te Maldiga Mi Corazon is a reimagining of the self-titled album with the band leaning further into their Latin influences.
The band features both original guitarist/composer Omar Rodríguez-López and singer/lyricist Cedric Bixler-Zavala. Having not played since 2012, The Mars Volta started their reunion shows in Dallas, Texas and have played a number of shows since.
With only three UK shows coming up fans should not miss the chance to see The Mars Volta this June. And with only one gig in the north of England in the iconic O2 Apollo, it is a must-see gig.
