Today, Kentucky-based hardcore band Knocked Loose have released their brand new, “savagely aggressive” album, ‘You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To.’ The LP comes five years after their previous effort, ‘A Different Shade of Blue.’

Pre-release reviews for the album have been exceptionally positive. The Guardian gave it a perfect score, writing, “Being crushed underneath this album is one of the great musical experiences of the year.” The review from Kerrang was similarly glowing, asserting that the group, “swing for the fences and then some on their incredible, incendiary third album”, while advising fans keep their “gum shields at the ready.” You can take a listen to the track ‘Slaughterhouse 2’, featuring Chris Motionless of Motionless in White, below

In a statement about the new record, the group seemed incredibly happy with the outcome, making mention of its musical diversity, and simultaneous, unrelenting heaviness. “On this album, we go the fastest we’ve ever gone; we go the scariest we’ve ever gone. We also go the catchiest and the most melodic that we’ve ever gone, and that’s the point,” guitarist Isaac Hale says. “Instead of branching off into a specific direction, we want to encompass ALL directions.”

Additional comments from the group also double down on their want to “challenge themselves as songwriters”, particularly given all the new attention they received off the back of viral festival sets last year, like Bonnaroo and Coachella. In an effort to achieve this balancing act, as well as the album featuring, “blastbeat-driven fury, chaotic turbulence, and seismic breakdowns”, the five-piece brought on the Grammy-nominated, “pop-savvy” Drew “WZRD BLD” Fulk for production duties, in order to provide tracks with the anthemic flair they were looking for.

However, despite all the experimentation the record promises to provide fans, a representative for the quintet also says “there’s a centre to what [they] do that will never change.” “[There’s always going to be] uncompromising heaviness, both sonically and thematically. What is evolving is their drive to find new ways to convey that heaviness, and add tasteful variety that only highlights their undiminished ferocity. Everywhere Knocked Loose have been is here on this record — but so is everywhere they may yet go. ”

Knocked Loose’s headlining North American tour is currently underway. The remaining dates include two sold out nights in New York City, at Brooklyn Steel and Terminal 5, The Shrine in Los Angeles tomorrow, and more. Show Me The Body, Loathe and Speed will support.
