‘Painkiller’ is the brand-new single from Insincere, out now via EMI Records.
‘Painkiller’ is full of catchy melodies and backed with bright, bold production, whilst the vocal delivery is their best yet. Whip-smart lyrics are allied with producer Alex’s studio wizardry to create a multi-dimensional pop gem that follows the groups two recent singles ‘halo’ and ‘where r u?’. The track comes alongside a video directed by Alex from the group. Watch it here.
The group talk about ‘Painkiller’ below:
“As a trio, dependency on prescription drugs isn’t at the forefront of the messages we’d like to release to the world, nor is it a unique selling point of ours for people to latch onto and relate to. We use ‘painkiller’ as a metaphor for a girl … “She’s my painkiller” to demonstrate the addiction and infatuation that a lot of people experience with love. Although this song is deeply metaphoric and can be understood in different ways, we don’t really want to bore you. The most important thing about this song is that it’s fun, and it was fun to make and at the end of the day, we’re just three twenty-year olds who still feel like kids, and who sometimes want to make playful music.”
The summer has been a busy one for Insincere. They released their latest vlog episode on the making of the ‘halo’ artwork and video – watch it here – and produced a lookbook challenge for the livestream countdown to the launch of the track, inspired by charity shops and Orlando’s love of fashion. Check it out here. Grace has revealed the breakdown of the single artwork for each via TikTok, highlighting that expressions of art, across fashion, painting and poetry, are as integral to the group as music. Additionally they’ve launched their Discord to build their community further and engage with the burgeoning Insincere fanbase directly.
The group have been developing their live show with a debut festival appearance at Mad Cool, and plans developing for their first UK shows later this year.
