Here, we delve deep into the mind of Gadhouse CEO, Petch Teosuwan to explore his passion for music, and how that translated into creating a business that is built around crafting the finest record players, and more.
Hi Petch, how are you doing today?
Great, thank you! It’s been a bit busy in the office, but I thrive on the energy.
Talk us through the products you are most proud of, and why?
I’m particularly proud of our product “Brad”. We aimed to be the go-to choice for those just starting their journey into the world of vinyl. It’s heartening to see that we’ve accomplished our aim, with many people developing a fondness for Brad.
What are some of the biggest challenges you have faced from a business standpoint, in getting your creative vision realized?
One of the significant challenges has been navigating the global supply chain. It’s crucial to find international partners who truly understand and resonate with our vision and objectives.
How have you personally evolved as Gadhouse has evolved as a business, what have you learned?
As Gadhouse has grown, my learnings have been centred around the importance of people and sustainability. Building a strong team and ensuring our operations are sustainable has been instrumental in our journey.
What is your message to consumers, people who support the brand and invest time into your work?
To all our supporters who resonate with the creativity, art, music, culture, and the analogue essence that Gadhouse brings: thank you. Your appreciation for our work fuels our passion and dedication. Your embrace of vinyl and the analogue feel inspires us to keep crafting unique products.
Do you personally have a fascination with the early 90s/2000s music, and vintage culture your designs draw from, if so, can you tell me more about what drew you to that originally?
Absolutely. I’ve always been drawn to the music and art of different eras, which are potent representations of culture. Studying the influences and origins of each generation, especially the early 90s/2000s, has been enlightening. As we delve into the 2000s era now, our aim is to blend the best of each retro era with the technology we develop.
What about cyberpunk culture?
Cyberpunk culture, with its blend of futuristic tech and retro influences, aligns with our ethos. Just as we’re drawing from the 90s/2000s music and vintage culture, cyberpunk too fuses the past and future, creating a unique aesthetic that resonates with our brand.
What are three of your favourite records, and why?
“The Wall” by Pink Floyd – It resonates deeply with me, especially considering how some of its themes are still relevant today.
Bobby Caldwell’s self-titled album – This was my gateway into soul music.
“The Beatles 1962-1966” by The Beatles – This was one of the first records I bought during my college days, and it holds a special place in my heart.
And your three favourite live music experiences, and why?
BST – The Libertines: The energy was unparalleled.
Tame Impala live in London: The ambiance and the music were a perfect match.
John Mayer in Bangkok: A soul-stirring experience.
What keeps you motivated outside of work, how do you unwind?
Running is my escape. Training for marathons keeps me grounded and gives me a fresh perspective.
What is a typical day like for you, if there is one?
A typical day involves immersing myself in my favourite movies and music through streaming apps, and spending quality time with the people I cherish the most.
Is there anything else you’d like to add before we finish?
As we look ahead, Gadhouse is committed to sustainability. We’re eager to introduce more products, expand our categories, and reach out to countries where our presence is still growing. Our guiding light and focus remains: “Empower Tomorrow’s Beat: Crafting Life-Changing Music, Ingenious Gadgets, and a Sustainable World.”
