Encapsulating The North of England’s vibrant DIY music scene, Hull five piece ‘Low Hummer’ are set to take 2019 by storm with an arsenal of deadpan post-punk anthems.

Brought up on a diet of chip spice and patty butties, in the sweat dripping walls of The Adelphi, Low Hummer are a battered, bruised and wired bunch of odd bods armed with synthesisers, drum machines and distorted guitars (and a scratched copy of ‘Surfer Rosa’ in their back pocket).
The Hull five piece take great pleasure dissecting what it means to be a backwards northerner and skint Londoner on their debut single ‘Us Up North’.
A single that’s a taste of things to come from a band who’ve chucked down their guitars for synthesisers for their first release.
The Hull supergroup (comprised of members of Late Night Fiction, Shipping Forecast, Embrs and La Bête Blooms) make a sonic shift from their guitar-heavy pasts into electronic drums, harmonies and synths, a musical coming of age which takes a mischievous calm approach for a band who that are ready to show their louder side on a short headline tour in January.
Is This It-esque production allows the raging characteristics of Low Hummer’s live show to breathe and grow from drums and guitar to a wall of synths and guitars at its penultimate chorus.
Us Up North is out now via The Adult Teeth Recording Company on streaming services worldwide.
