Gimme A Hull Yeah! was set up by Soundsphere magazine writers Dom Smith and Anthony Neylon, following a promise they made in college together more than a decade ago, that they would work together on “something cool” to do with wrestling one day.
The podcast was set up initially to cover the history of WWE, and PPVs ranging from the beginning of WWE’s existence and beyond. However, following an overall positive reception to the videos, GAHY! have recently added present day content from WWE, AEW and more, including game reviews and a series specific to WWE’s NXT UK division. In 2020, the podcast now has a working relationship with NXTUK, and has interviewed Travis Banks, and featured special guest introductions from the likes of Big E, Kevin Owens, Matt Hardy, Raven and AEW’s Darby Allin with more to come.
Of Gimme A Hull Yeah’s inclusion in The Northern Podcast Festival 2020, co-host Dom Smith comments:
“It’s so cool to be featured this year in this fantastic podcast festival. The fact that it’s coming to Hull is incredible, and that it will support so many of the awesome content creators in the city. Myself and Anthony do this thing whenever we can find the time when we’re not working, which doesn’t give us a lot!
The fact that people have given us such a positive reception since we started has been awesome, and to have this platform to discuss wrestling with people in a different setting is too awesome for us to pass up.”
