Cardiff four-piece Himalayas are back with a hard hitting new single ‘What If…?’ In what has already been a huge year for the band, the single release was celebrated with a show at Camden’s Underworld ahead of a tour with Kids In Glass Houses next month.
Brimming with fuzzy guitars, ‘What If…?’ has the band showing why they’re one of the most exciting acts in British rock at the minute. Himalayas are firing on all cylinders capitalising on an exciting summer which saw them support Foo Fighters in their home city Cardiff, giving them the perfect opportunity to unleash a new track.
Speaking on the single frontman Joe Williams says, “The music we’ve released recently just felt like a step forward for us as a band and ‘What If…?’ feels like another jump ahead of where we’ve been. I love the energy that is inherent in the song. The lyrics and vocal melodies came quickly, and the drums are influenced by The Prodigy and Run The Jewels.” He adds, “The whole song fell into place really well and it was a stand out single for us from the beginning!”
Produced by Pete Hutchings (Royal Blood, Skindred), the track is the latest of a series of singles that have been released this year. Speaking on Pete Hutchings’ involvement Williams says, “Having recorded ‘What If…?’ with Pete Hutchings in Hereford it was a no brainer that we should get it released as soon as we could.”
