The new album will feature 13 tracks, with the first single being released on the 30th of April alongside five tour dates across UK stadiums.
Deep Purple aim to continue their charge of recent years of releasing hit albums and filling arenas around the world, adding to their already 100 million album selling legacy.
Credited as one of the key originators of heavy rock, Deep Purple have consistently progressed boundaries within their music. This is the band’s first album with new guitarist Simon McBride, who seamlessly slotted in when long-timemember Steve Morse left due to personal circumstances. ‘=1’ is fronted by the legendary Ian Gillan and he’s accompanied by the masterful bassist Roger Glover, the powerhouse drummer Ian Paice, and keyboard maestro Don Airey.
But, Deep Purple is more than just their members and ‘=1’ aims to embody the essence and attitude of their 1970s incarnation more than any other album in recent memory. With Bob Ezrinonce again producing, the record evokes the pioneering band’s classic sound, without relying on nostalgia.
The albums full meaning will be revealed within the coming weeks. Fans have already been speculating after mysterious equations and depictions of multiverses appeared in London, Paris, and Berlin in recent days.
This November, Deep Purple will be embarking on a tour across the UK and will be shaking the walls of arenas of Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester and Glasgow through an explosive line up of the bands unforgettable hits from their repertoire of rock.
