Its been too long since we had a good metropolitan festival in the North and this weekend finally we will see the doors of several Liverpool venues open for 3 full evenings and 2 days of great live music. This festival is where you will find your next favourite band or artist and you really just have to be here this coming weekend.
The three-day event runs from Friday 1 October to Sunday 3 October across Liverpool city centre venues, with headliners beabadoobee (Friday), Red Rum Club (Saturday) and Rejjie Snow (Sunday).
Confirmed on the line-up is also Jamie Webster, The Murder Capital, The Snuts, Not3s, The Lathums, Baby Queen, Gracey, Lapsley, The Mysterines, Miraa May, Lottery Winners, Pixey, L’Objectif, Beaux, Lanterns On The Lake, Blondes, Police Car Collective, Bull, Pretty Sick Nayana Iz and The Clockworks.
Liverpool-based four piece, Courting, return to Sound City for a mammoth homecoming, as do local favourites SPINN, bringing with them their dreamy indie vibes that have already seen them become a beloved new voice in British alternative music.
With the likes of Pom Poko, new Chess Club signees The Let Go, English Teacher, Bull and more just announced – it just adds even more spice to a mouth-watering weekend of new music across one of Europe’s true musical homes.
In what will be only her second ever hometown show, Lapsley is curating a very special bill at the Arts Club, building up to her hotly anticipated headlining performance there. Artists include Fears, Niix, Miso Extra and Sisu Crew DJs – all ready for a memorable takeover experience.
“It has been incredible to see such a rapturous return for live music across the UK, and it’s only raised our excitement levels for the return of Sound City in 2021,” says Becky Ayres, managing director at Sound City.
“Bringing such a diverse and thrilling lineup to the heart of Liverpool this October is something we’re dead proud of – returning to the original stages and vital venues in the city centre we all need to support at this time.
“With our best lineup to date, and so many exciting artists to discover – I can’t wait to get stuck in and create huge new memories this October.”
Sound City is the place to discover the giants of tomorrow and was one of the first to host huge names like Ed Sheeran, Florence and the Machine, Stormzy, Jungle, Alt-J, Paloma Faith, The 1975, Christine & The Queens, Years & Years and many more at the beginning of their musical careers.
The first Sound City in 2008 was held across some of Liverpool’s coolest city centre venues, including The Kazimier, The Zanzibar, The Black-E and even Liverpool Cathedral. In 2015, the festival moved to an arena set-up at Bramley-Moore Dock, but since then has come back to its roots as a multi-venue festival across the city centre.
The 2021 event sees a new main stage at Liverpool Grand Central Hall, joined by some of the city’s cornerstone venues, including Arts Club, Jimmy’s Liverpool, The Jacaranda, LEAF, Kazimier Stockroom, EBGBs, and The Shipping Forecast.
