Straight after finishing a huge European tour with Guns N’ Roses, Duff McKagan has wasted no time releasing a new single. ‘I Saw God On 10th St.’ is the second single from McKagan’s highly anticipated solo album Lighthouse.
The track starts with an acoustic riff that is more reminiscent of Guns N’ Roses’ ‘Used To Love Her’ or ‘One In A Million’ then any of McKagan’s solo material, before launching into an electric guitar driven punk ending.
Speaking about the meaning of the song McKagan says “I picture him as an old guy with white beard and hair, leaning up against a wall on a city street. The ultimate jurist of us all. Pissed off, squinting eyes to ward off what he sees, spitting frequently with no care for who may be around. The Creator. God. Allah, Shiva…or whomever. I think I see him sometimes over on 10th St., hands in tight fists, and toes curled up and tense.”
Lighthouse releases October 20th and features some high profile guest appearances. Slash and Jerry Cantrell feature on tracks as well as an appearance from punk legend Iggy Pop. Lighthouse is available to pre-order now on a variety of formats alongside a range of Lighthouse merchandise.
