Huge news from Code Orange as the band have announced their latest album The Above which is set to release September 29th. ‘Take Shape’ is the bands new single, released today which features vocals from The Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan.
The Above is Code Orange’s first album since 2020’s Unearthed. The album is self-produced by Jami Morgan and Eric “Shade” Balderose with engineering by Steve Albini. The album features both ‘Grooming My Replacement’ and ‘The Game’ as well as the new single ‘Take Shape’.
‘Take Shape’ has released alongside a video that features Jami Morgan’s directorial debut. The track itself has a heavy punk groove and with the addition of Corgan’s distinctive vocals its sure to become a fan favourite.
Speaking on the video Morgan says “I have been working on the concept for this video, and others to come, for about a year and a half. I am so thankful to have been able to sit under the learning tree of Max Moore and our DP Eric Robbins.”
Discussing the album’s sound Morgan added “We wanted the album to be able to wash over you with melody, aggression, and joy, but it was of equal importance that the closer you look, the more you are rewarded. It was to feel rooted in the “analogue” world, but with threads of digital reality binding things together.”
