From Yorkshire Roots to Sonic Evolution: Flesh Planet Unveils Melodic Debut Single ‘Evelyn’

The creative forces behind psychedelic grunge rock bands Allusondrugs and Allusinlove have returned, reborn as Flesh Planet, and are set to release their captivating debut single, “Evelyn,” on Wednesday, March 26th. While known for their genre-bending explorations, ‘Evelyn’ showcases the band’s melodic side, revealing a pop sensibility amidst their signature sonic textures.

Flesh Planet, comprised of Damian Hughes (vocals, guitar, synthesiser), Andrey Pavlovic (guitar), Jemal Beau Malki (bass), and Connor Fisher-Atack (drums, vocals), emerges after a period of creative incubation. Building upon their experiences with Allusondrugs and Allusinlove, the band has forged a new sonic identity that draws from a wide spectrum of influences and experience.

“Evelyn” is a testament to this evolution. While the band’s overall sound incorporates elements of shoegaze-infused grunge rock, inspired by the likes of Soundgarden, Deftones, and My Bloody Valentine, along with industrial and electronic influences from Nine Inch Nails, Aphex Twin, and beyond, this debut single highlights their ability to craft compelling melodies and infectious hooks.

“We wanted ‘Evelyn’ to be a good introduction to Flesh Planet,” says Damian Hughes. “It captures a lot of what we’re doing, a bit of the melodic side, some of the heavier sounds, all mixed together. It’s a snapshot of our sound, really.”

Andrey Pavlovic adds, “This is a new chapter, but it’s built on everything we’ve learned. With ‘Evelyn,’ we’re pushing ourselves to explore new sonic territories, while still holding onto the core of what makes us who we are.”

“Evelyn” is a shimmering blend of layered guitars, soaring melodies, and Hughes’s emotive vocals, creating a captivating and memorable listening experience. While hints of their heavier inclinations remain, the song’s focus is on its infectious melody and undeniable pop sensibility.
