Imelda May has been singing the blues for a couple of decades now and has remained true to her musical influences of rockabilly and jazz.
The current appreciation of all things vintage and burlesque has added to the colour and vibrancy of Imelda’s core fans and there is a wonderful diversity in the crowd from old rockers jiving away at the back to immaculately coiffed and corsetted hipsters crowded into the stage front.
The songs transport us from the grey and misty autumn night outside to exotic landscapes of voodoo-infused love affairs. It’s the quality and strength of Imelda May’s vocals that elevate the whole show ~ a razor-sharp band and the ability to cut a rug in killer heels helps too.
The ‘Mayhem’ tour concludes its UK run in Glasgow on November 29. You can find out more about Imelda May on her website.
