This Will Destroy Yours Ears will begin their UK tour shortly, with stops in Hull, Brighton and more. Here we chat to Pierre-Johann Suc about the band’s creativity and more.
How are you today?
Fine! We’re on the ferry between Dieppe and Newhaven now and Léa is a little sick. But we’re very happy to come back in UK! This will be the first time for her …
How are you looking forward to the tour?
Our first mission is to found the best English Breakfast in UK! But for real, we love playing in UK because of the audience you have in music venues.
Feeling the energy of that crowd is always a pleasure and a motivation to create new music. We enjoy to discover new bands too, and touring is the perfect way to do it. And, of course becoming rich and famous, said Léa between two fish feedings!
What are you looking forward to about visiting cities like Hull when you come to the UK?
Hull is one of the cities we like a lot in UK. We discovered it by our friends from LIFE with which we played few gigs in France. We played Adelphi Club for the first time last year and it was a funny, amazing night. That night we met our new friends we also love a lot: Shelf Lives! So, only good memories…
I love the videos and visual aspect of the band, can you talk me through your personal inspirations and ideas?
We are also choreographers and visual artists, and we manage an artistic working space in the south west of France called Kontainer. So, we spend our time to share and work with other artists and creators! That’s why we can’t be satisfied with just making fake live videos. That’s more fun to think about playing on a fishing boat in the middle of the ocean for example!
What inspires you outside of music, think specific people and places?
Emil Cioran for his optimism and Aymeric Lompret for its in-depth analysis of world events.
What else has the band got coming up?
We’ll be recording one new song with Ben Hampson in Brighton, to find the taste of our third album. We are more then happy to work with him and impatient to find out more about his way of working.
Is there anything you’d like to promote, or add before we finish?
We hope lots of you will come in Hull at Adelphi Club Sunday 10th March! There will be new songs, a new bassist, and a lot of love are waiting for you! French kisses for everyone!
