The video is taken from a short film which is the testament of the long-term visual collaboration of the band with cult fashion photographer and filmmaker, Vanderperre. The short film was created to mark the release of ‘What You Need’ with cinematography from Stanley Kubrick’s favourite Larry Smith.
Willy didn’t make a promo video. He didn’t want narrative. He made something more holistic. He wanted to capture everything that’s great about this band, and to “open up their eyes to their own roots”. He felt the film must represent the place where Goose rehearse and record, above a bar/venue in Kortrijk: “It’s not just the music, it’s the bar, the venue, the studio, that’s what’s cool about Goose too, and the people around them, the fans.” Willy sees how closely connected the band are to where they make their music. “…this film is a thank you to that place…it’s a part of them, every room has a character, every room is an emotion.”
