In our latest band spotlight, we chat to Duddy B, guitarist from Dirty Heads about the band’s music and inspirations.

S] What inspires and motivates you guys outside of music – think movies, people and places?
D] “Everyday life. We tend to write about experiences we’ve had or things that happen to everybody. We pull inspiration from everything.”
S] Talk us through the specific ideas and inspirations behind two of the tracks for the new record, ‘My Sweet Summer’ and the title effort, ‘Sound Of Change’?
D] “We heard Kenny Chesney was a fan of the band so Jared (Watson – vocals) was actually trying to write a song for him. When we got together to write we had some music but no lyrics or melody yet and Jared said I have an idea but it’s for Kenny Chesney. Needless to say, but Kenny never got the track. ‘Sound Of Change’ was written to inspire people not to be afraid of change but to embrace it.”
S] How are you looking forward to touring the UK – anywhere you want to visit?
D] “We’re very excited to tour the UK. It’s always nice getting to see how people react to your music so far from home.”
S] What were some of the most fun moments when recording the record with collaborators like Tech N9ne and B Real?
D] “Really this whole process was amazing, we worked with so many new producers and went to some new studios and just pushed our selves to grow and try new things. I think we all learned so much while writing this album.”
S] How has the band changed and developed since the formation in 2003 – in terms of the dynamic, and the way you work together?
D] “Since 2003, I think not just the band but each member has grown so much. We’ve had the opportunity to tour with some amazing bands and work with so many talented musicians and producers, and in that process we’ve learned about ourselves and music. I think now we’ve really found the direction we want to go and we couldn’t be happier with where we are.”
