Xtra Mile Recordings present Rock Against The Riots – on the October 19, 2011 at London’s Borderline venue, five acts from the label will be performing intimate acoustic sets as well as meeting the fans that have helped support them and the label.
On the bill are Chris T-T (pictured) and Beans on Toast as well as new signings Mull Historical Society, The Loved One and Kyle D Evans the frontman from Retrospective Soundtrack Players. There will be goody bags, an Xtra Mile merch stand and through the powers of technology Xtra Mile will be linking up with one of their “cherished” acts currently touring North America. More info on that is coming soon.
The gig is part of Xtra Mile’s F**k The Fire campaign, a project born out of the ashes of the summer’s London Riots. When a fire tore down the Sony DADC Warehouse that housed [PIAS], a large distributor of over 150 independent record labels, all Xtra Mile’s new releases, limited editions and back catalogue went up in flames. So the label has teamed up with friends at PledgeMusic and formed an exciting direct-to-fan campaign.
They’ve invited fans to tell them what stock they would like to replenish from their extensive catalogue and if they reach targets, X-Tra Mile will get re-pressing right then and there! They are currently on 98 per cent! And if all that wasn’t enough, Xtra Mile continues to broaden its international reach by hosting a party on October 18, across the pond in New York as part of the music industry festival CMJ. StringerBessant, Sophie Madeleine and Murray from The Xcerts are all confirmed to play.
