East Yorkshire alternative blues powerhouse, Beth Pilling and The Bootleggers’ new single, ‘Spinning’ is out on December 13th, and you can hear it below!
‘Spinning’ is the first single the band is releasing as Beth Pilling And The Bootleggers.
Vocalist Beth speaks on the tracks inspirations: “It’s a song which explores themes of spiking and attitudes towards women. I wanted to write a song which shined light on things that are often swept under the rug; groping, sexist remarks, harassment, spiking etc. It was really important to me to write a song that people can dance to; to take back the power. It’s one of my favourite songs to play live, I love how many people relate to the song and how we can all get angry together.
I had the idea for the video a really long time ago, it’s been amazing to see the vision come to life. The video follows the narrative of a young girl who gets spiked at a house party. Kirsty did incredible and so did James, I was worried about the casting as it’s quite a horrible part to play on either end, they both did amazing work! George (our guitarist) and Rob (videographer) both helped massively bring the vision to life. All of our extras were great too, it was very warming to see a community of people come together and create something that feels really important.
Creating safe spaces for women and minority genders at gigs is something that’s really important to me, our next gig is at The New Adelphi Club in Hull on Saturday 8th March, come dance with us! https://thisfeeling.co.uk/bethpilling/“
‘Spinning’ is also from the band’s debut EP ‘Bootleg Vol.1’ which releases on Friday 13th December which you can pre – save now!
