The film, released in the UK in February, stars Zac Efron, Jeremy Allen White and Harris Dickinson.
Film distributor Lionsgate have announced that the critically acclaimed film ‘The Iron Claw’, starring Zac Efron, is to be released on DVD and Blu-Ray this coming Monday (May 6th).
Along with the movie itself, the physical release also features a making of documentary called ‘Brotherhood is Forever’, as well as a cast and crew QnA.
The film, written and directed by Sean Durkin, tells the real-life story of the Von Erich brothers. The trio became famous faces in the world of wrestling, despite being “cursed by constant tragedy.”
As Lionsgate themselves put it in a press release about the film, “Through tragedy and triumph, under the shadow of their domineering father and coach, the brothers seek larger-than-life immortality on the biggest stage in sports.”
As well as Zac Efron in the starring roll as Kevin Von Erich, the film also features performances from Jeremy Allen White, Harris Dickinson, Maura Tierney and Stanley Simons.
‘The Iron Claw’ received rave reviews upon its release, garnering an 89% critic score 0n Rotten Tomatoes, and had Adam Nayman of The Ringer calling it “a sports movie with genuine existential heft.” It was also praised by a number of figures in the wrestling industry for its accuracy in the portrayal of events.
In addition, it received multiple accolades including the National Board of Review award for Best Ensemble
‘The Iron Claw’ is available to buy on DVD and Blu-ray from 6th May 2024, courtesy of Lionsgate UK Home Entertainment.
