Today, Houston’s critically acclaimed rock/hip-hop fusion artist Hyro The Heroreleased the title track from his KIDS AGAINST THE MONSTERS mixtape, rounding out a tracklist of previously released singles featuring high-profile fellow artists (via Better Noise Music). Hyro pushes back on criticism against the younger generations on “Kids Against The Monsters,” as the rap/rock artist encourages people to band together in an effort to make a positive difference in the world. The new single also questions society’s programming, acknowledging today’s youth for carrying the torch and continuing to fight against oppression. The track is featured in episode eight of Apple TV+’s new basketball drama series Swagger, which premiered today. The series is executive produced by NBA player Kevin Durant and directed by acclaimed filmmaker Reggie Rock Bythewood.”Kids Against The Monsters” is available now to stream and download across digital platforms HERE. Hyro said of his new track, “My song ‘Kids Against The Monsters’ has to be one of my favorite tracks I’ve ever done. I’m singing on the chorus, which I don’t often do, and I think the lyrics convey a meaningful and powerful message of how it feels going through society being looked down upon by the older generations. Big corporations, along with the people and power they represent, have too much control and yet are not understanding the youth’s reaction to the complications we are facing at this time. But technology has become a staple in our upbringing and has forced the world to listen to younger generations in ways they couldn’t before. I believe this song speaks to that and more in an epic way.”
Thrilled that the single will appear in episode 8 of Apple TV+’s Swagger, Hyro also stated, “I truly can’t describe the excitement I feel to have my song Kids Against the Monsters in Kevin’s Durants new show on Apple TV+ called Swagger. I grew up with basketball as a big part of my life and the show is a great example of how basketball can change young lives. It also details the issues young men and women in these communities can face. There are ‘monsters’ out there trying to destroy you and bring you down daily, and people who do not understand your struggle coming up in this crazy world. I think the song is a perfect fit for this show and the scene on display. I’m thankful I was able to be part of something so dope, especially growing up as a hooper.”
